ANNOUNCING PRESS CONFERENCE ON INFRASTRUCTURE BILL
Labor leaders and elected officials are hosting a public press conference to offer urgent messages regarding the federal infrastructure legislation.
Rockford, IL: Project First Rate and the Northwestern Illinois Building Trades Council are hosting a press conference at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, September 28, to offer comments regarding the federal bipartisan infrastructure legislation.
Leaders from local trade unions and elected officials from the Rockford region will be present and making statements.
The legislation, which the U.S. Senate approved on a bipartisan basis in August, contains $550 billion in new investments for roads, bridges, rail, public transit, and reconnecting neighborhoods cut off by highways, particularly in communities of color.
The greater Rockford area has hundreds of miles of roads and other critical infrastructure that desperately need reinvestment. This legislation will fund many improvements in roadways, bridges, and pedestrian paths used by residents every day. The legislation will also open the door to thousands of good-paying careers in the skilled trades.
