IL COMPTROLLER & ATTORNEY GENERAL SET TO SPEAK IN ROCKFORD

Project First Rates hosts state leaders and policy experts to discuss construction policy

Rockford, IL – On Thursday, March 2, Project First Rate will host up to nearly 100 local government leaders, elected officials, and construction-industry professionals for an all-day educational workshop covering topics related to public construction.

The Illinois Comptroller, Susana Mendoza, and Attorney General, Kwame Raoul, will kick off the day, followed by presentations from leaders of other state agencies, including the Department of Labor and Capital Development Board. The event aims to provide local governments with the most up-to-date information regarding laws, regulations, opportunities in construction, and infrastructure policies.

“Local governments have so many responsibilities, including determining how infrastructure projects go out to bid and what contractors are selected to perform this work on behalf of taxpayers,” said Paul Nolley, executive director of Project First Rate. “Our workshop will provide the leaders of our region’s cities, villages, and counties with the tools they need to do things the right way the first time. A small mistake can put local taxpayers on the hook for thousands of dollars. Those attending this event will be more informed and better prepared to take on state-funded infrastructure projects and bid out local construction projects fairly and lawfully,” Nolley continued.

The event begins at 9:00 am this Thursday, March 2, at the Embassy Suites in Downtown Rockford. Registration is free, but participants must register at www.bit.ly/NILPCW. Complimentary breakfast and lunch are available to all attendees.
