PROJECT FIRST RATE SELECTED AS NATIONAL APPRENTICESHIP AMBASSADOR BY UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF LABOR

Local nonprofit representing union tradespeople & contractors celebrate this national accolade

Rockford, IL – As the 2024 National Apprenticeship begins, Project First Rate is announcing their recent selection as a National Apprenticeship Ambassador by the United States Department of Labor (US DOL).

The US DOL’s Apprenticeship Ambassador Initiative creates a national network of community-based organizations, educators, employers, industry associations, labor organizations, program sponsors, workforce intermediaries, and other stakeholders to serve as champions for expanding and diversifying Registered Apprenticeship.

Project First Rate, based in Rockford, was awarded this national Ambassadorship for its work promoting and supporting registered apprenticeship programs in the building & construction trades. Apprenticeship programs in the building trades are tuition-free, post-secondary training programs that combine classroom education with on-the-job training with an “earn while you learn” model that provides a living wage while students learn to be highly skilled tradespeople in over 17 different trade careers.

Project First Rate is a leader throughout northern Illinois through efforts such as the annual Building Trades Career Expo, FindYourTrade.org, Tradeswomen United of Northwestern Illinois, in-school presentations/education about apprenticeships, and much more.

Paul Nolley, executive director of Project First Rate, is available for interviews about the Apprenticeship Ambassadorship and general apprenticeship and trade-related topics.
