TRADESWOMEN UNITED LAUNCHES DAY OF ACTION AT BEYER STADIUM
Women from male-dominated industry team up to support the historic stadium of Rockford Peaches
Rockford, IL – Tradeswomen United of Northwestern Illinois has announced a special Day of Action at Beyer Stadium. This internationally known and historic baseball field was once the home field for the Rockford Peaches.
TWU members will continue the Building & Construction Trades years of service to Beyer. Women from various union trades will come together on the morning of Saturday, July 15, to paint the outfield fence, a recent addition to the ongoing efforts to enhance Beyer Stadium. Other Building Trade volunteers have helped make Beyer what it is today through years of donated labor, materials, and other support.
“Tradeswomen United is committed to giving back to our community and supporting efforts that align with our values,” stated TWU Co-Chair Dixie Perko. “When we heard about the opportunity to beautiful and support Beyer Stadium this way, we had to step up and say ‘Yes’ immediately. Each of us recognizes the major historic impacts the Peaches made on baseball and Rockford in particular, and we are excited to host a Day of Action that builds on the legacy of strong, empowered women,” Perko continued.
The official TWU Day of Action runs from 9:00 am to Noon on Saturday, July 15, at Beyer Stadium, 245 15th Ave Rd, Rockford. The community is welcome to attend and help with other beautification projects at Beyer. TWU members will be available for education and career promotion and to talk with local journalists during the event. Food and refreshments will be available for all.
